Web Sites

Over the years I have made a number of web sites, most of which are now dead and gone as I have not done web development in some time. I started doing web design in 1996 and professionally in 2007. Most of the sites are older now - I'm just showing some street 'cred with this. Some are still around, though (if the link works, it must still be there!). Below is a partial list.

Williamson County Online Vendor Portal

Created: 2006
Site Type: Dynamic Portal with ASP.net
Languages/Technology: VB.net, C#.net, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Platform: Windows Server, SQL Server 2000

Details: Site is a portal displaying database information custom to each user. Bids are created and tracked with a management console. Bids, user information, and other data stored in SQL server and accessed by stored procedures and data views. ASP.net integration into the file system is also used for bid documents and advanced email functionality is enbabled for administrators. Developed with one other ASP.net programmer. Since re-coded, but all of the original functionality and interface look/feel is still there.

The Heart of Golf .com

Created: 2006
Site Type: Semi-static Content with ASP.net 2.0
Languages/Technology: VB.net, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Platform: Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2003

Details: Site makes use of master pages with somewhat static content (changed by site admins). The shopping cart is completely custom to integrate with PayPal, and stores the shipping and order data locally in a SQL server. Cart items are tracked with cookies on the client machine. Automatic emails are generated throughout the order process by VB.net. The site also features a full order admin page (accessible only to the site admins).

NOTE: This is my father and his wife's company.

Williamson County GIS Council

Created: 2006
Site Type: Dynamic Content with ASP.net 2.0
Languages/Technology: VB.net, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Platform: Windows Server, SQL Server 2000

Details: Dynamic pages driven by a SQL backend. Pages are content pages with a primary Master Page. All page content is a SQL BLOB that is read each time the page is called. Editing is enabled for logged-in users. Editing of content is done over HTTP by editing the SQL HTML in a FreeTextBox textbox and saving the results back to the SQL DB. The new content is then served out as the page HTML.

This system as since migrated to Weebly for easier updates by the rotating chariman of the Council.

City of Monterey G.I.S. Information Portal

Created: 2003 (re-coded in 2005).
Site Type: Dynamic and Static Content with ASP.net 1.1 & ASP
Languages/Technology: VB.net, VBS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Platform: Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2000 (remote server)

Details: Many pages are data-driven from SQL server. The SQL server is linked through views and stored procedures to other SQL servers to extract a set of data to the page. Original site was created with Farallon Geographics, re-design and re-coding done by me.

Senate Engineering Company

Created: 2001
Site Type: Static Content
Languages/Technology: HTML, JavaScript, Flash (crudely!)
Platform: Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2000 (remote server)

Details: This is a small site hand-coded with HTML and JavaScript. I made the cheesy flash animation as a test. The company president liked it so much, it was put on the first page. Some of the content of this site has been updated, but the code framework for the text, layout, etc. are the same. The menu is the same as when I added it.

The Twin Rivers Council of Governments

Created: 2001
Site Type: Static Content
Languages/Technology: HTML, JavaScript, Flash (crudely!)
Platform: Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2000 (remote server)

Details: Basic static-content site that I hand-coded with HTML. The page layout and sliding menu remain the same. Some of the content has been updated, but clearly not in some time. I created a flash animation as an advertisement for the participating municipalities which has since been removed, but the file can be linked directly.

Sites you can't see online

Williamson County G.I.S. Intranet Portal

Created: 2005/2006
Site Type: Dynamic / Static Content Mix with ASP.net 2.0 (and a few 1.1 elements)
Languages/Technology: VB.net, C#.net, VBS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, RSS, XML
Platform: Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2000 (remote server)
Details: This site's got it all. It's a "Web 2.0" portal that allows a great deal of customization and interaction via AJAX, ASP.net membership and profiles. The user can set a variety of preferences and make a site personalized for them.

City of Monterey G.I.S. Internal Portal

NOTE: This is essentially the same as the public version, except with information that is for internal City users only. This page is not down for upgrades, but you couldn't know that...

Sites that are so old I don't even have screenshots

ACL Trip

The member's website for a backpacking trip in 1999.
Created: 1999

Details: Site with mostly images as the navigation and interface. Graphics were custom-created with Photoshop.

Falderal Internet

My web-design startup in college.
Created: 1997
Site Type: Static Content
