Welcome!You've reached the home page of Richard Semple. PersonalI'm originally from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. I now live just outside of Austin, Texas, with my wife (also from the Pittsburgh area), and our two crazy dogs.
Before moving to Austin, we spent just about 3 years in wonderful Monterey, California. We had a great time, but eventually, we decided we needed to search for an area that had more opportunities for both of us. Now I spend my days as a professional nerd (and proud of it!). When I'm not geeking out on technology or maps, I enjoy riding my bike, taking pictures (that's why there's a photo at the top of this page) and traveling. |  |
My Professional Experience
I have over 15 years of experience using IT solutions to help organizations become more efficient, gain more intelligence from existing data, and improve customer service. From my background in programming and web design, to geographic information systems, I am well-versed in what technology can do for organizations. In the past 8 years, I have put that knowledge to work while managing processes, people, and complex IT systems.
Currently, I am the Public Safety Technology Director for Williamson County, Texas (Wikipedia | Home Page), one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States. My job is to manage the County-wide public safety systems as well as GIS that consists of users in various departments, servers, databases, and interfaces, and also the 9-1-1 telephone database and addressing processes. I work with a wonderful staff in Technology Services and other departments in the County.
