Richard Semple

Welcome!

You've reached the home page of Richard Semple. I'm originally from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. I now live just outside the City of Austin, Texas, with my wife, Kate (also from the Pittsburgh area), and our two crazy dogs.

We left Pittsburgh in early 2002 with just us and a truck full of stuff bound for California. We spent just about 3 years in wonderful Monterey, California. We had a great time, made good friends, and enjoyed life. And got a dog. Eventually, we decided we need to search for a place that we could afford to live and buy a house, and had more job opportunities for both of us. We settled on Austin, Texas and moved (with help!) in late 2005. Heartbroken as we were to leave the California coast and our friends, we've made it good here.

Currently, I am the Geographic Information Systems and 9-1-1 Addressing Director for Williamson County, Texas (Wikipedia | Home Page). I work in the Technology Services Department for the Senior Director. My job is to manage the County-wide GIS that consists of users in various departments, servers, databases, and interfaces, as well as the 9-1-1 telephone database and addressing processes. I work with a wonderful staff in Technology Services and other departments. (For more on GIS, click here or the navigation link above).

My Professional Experience

I have over 10 years of experience in using IT solutions to help organizations become more efficient, gain more intelligence from existing data, and improve customer service. From my background in programming and web design, to geographic information systems, I am well-versed in what technology can do for organizations. In the past 8 years, I have put that knowledge to work while managing processes, people, and complex IT systems.
